Purnima/Hunnime
Hunnime Habba or Poornima is an auspicious day which occurs twice in a month. It is divided into 2 equal parts of fifteen days which are known as Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. The full moon night falls on the last day of the first slot of fifteen days of Shukla Paksha which is called Poornima. The last day of the second slot of fifteen days is the Krishna Paksha which is also known as Amavasya, where there is no-moon night. Moon represents human beings “Inner-world”. For instance: hidden emotions, desires, fears, worries, dreams. It also represents feelings, unconscious beliefs etc. It highlights “Feminine” characteristics. Moon offers the ability to feel, learn from the past and creatively unlock the essence in human beings.
Spiritual View
On Poornima , the moon completes one cycle around the sun which symbolizes the elimination of darkness to help us gain wisdom and illumination. On this occasion it is considered to chant Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra , as it helps to relieve unrecovered diseases, negative energy and enables a healthy mind and body.
Scientific View
Scientifically there is a procedure for Fasting. There are several effects on the body and mind by fasting. Fasting refreshes and recharges the whole of the human system and bestows prosperity and happiness. Some of the benefits are: Balancing the body metabolism, Controlling the acid content, Enhancing the endurance power, and Cleansing the digestive system. The gravitational forces of the earth are at their maximum.
