Shoonya Foundation had organized vruksha initiative in 2024 in Kerekodihalli , Arsikere(tq). It was the suitable location to carry out the project based on soil quality and water availability. A week prior to the event, Guruji called a meeting with the village people to discuss about the project. All the people were enthusisatic to participate and volunteer for the vruksha initiative. It was a great success to motivate people to involve in this project.
A group of enthusiastic environmentalists and community members recently gathered to discuss the key aspects of the Vruksha Project, an ambitious tree plantation initiative aimed at enhancing environmental conservation and community well-being. The meeting began with a shared vision of the project’s long-term impact on improving local ecosystems and combating climate change. They emphasized the importance of selecting appropriate sites for plantation, considering soil and climate suitability, and preparing the land meticulously. The selection of native and diverse tree species was highlighted to ensure ecological resilience and maximize benefits for the local community.
The discussion then moved to planting strategies, with a focus on best practices, seasonal timing, and involving the community to foster a sense of ownership. The group stressed the need for consistent care, including regular watering, mulching, and protective measures like fencing to safeguard the young saplings from animals and physical damage. Monitoring the growth and health of the saplings, along with evaluating the project’s impact, was identified as crucial for ensuring long-term success.
Community engagement and education were seen as vital components, with plans for awareness campaigns, volunteer programs, and educational workshops to inspire broader participation and support. The gathering also discussed forming partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, corporate entities, and academic institutions to leverage resources and expertise. Funding and resource management were addressed, with a call to identify diverse funding sources, meticulously plan budgets, and allocate resources efficiently. The importance of public relations and regular reporting to keep stakeholders informed and build public support was also underlined.
